Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group announced that Rajiv Louis has joined the Carlyle Asia buyout team as a Managing Director.

Louis will lead the firm’s investment advisory activities in Indonesia. Prior to joining Carlyle, Louis worked at UBS for nearly 10 years, most recently as Managing Director and Country Head in Indonesia and Head of Investment Banking in Indonesia.

Louis was involved in many significant capital markets and M&A transactions, including BHP Billiton's sale of a minority stake in the Kalimantan Coal Project to Adaro Energy and British American Tobacco's acquisition of Bentoel Cigarettes. He is a graduate of the University of California.

Carlyle Asia buyout team has a 15-year history of making control and significant minority investments in well established companies across the Asia Pacific ex-Japan region with total invested assets and commitments of US$6 billion as of December 31, 2012. Carlyle has invested approximately US$11 billion in Asia Pacific region through December 31, 2012.
