Talk has heightened over the past fortnight about the possibility of Cesc Fabregas leaving Arsenal, a rumour which was only accelerated last week when the player did not take his chance to deny such talk.
Arsene Wenger last week denied the talk however, and the suggestion Fabregas will not be returning to the Gunners this summer has now increased.
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, who was on the ball with the Spaniard's departure from Arsenal, gave his perspective on the speculation this morning.
Writing on his Sulia page, Balague said:
"Despite all manner of rumours and counter rumours over his future, Cesc Fabregas will NOT be moving to Arsenal at the end of the season.
"There is no doubt that he feels that he still has much to offer his boyhood club, at least for another season.
"Who knows what will happen then, but for now Cesc Fabregas is not going anywhere which is bad news for all those Arsenal fans that were licking their lips at the prospect of a Fabregas, Wilshere, Cazorla line-up in midfield."
From that it appears quite definitive that Fabregas will be staying in Barcelona this summer.
But there is real hope there for Gunners fans that a return could be in the offing in the future.
For Fabregas has not had it all his way in Spain, as Balague also points out on his page, has been whistled by sections of the Barcelona support in recent weeks.
If the situation regresses further next season, and Fabregas does not have the impact he would like; the prospect of a 2014 return may yet be on the cards.
Just don't bet on it happening this summer.
