Jonjo Shelvey was an unused substitute for Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby, and found himself relegated to the under-21 side to get some match action under his belt this evening.
The midfielder was clearly stung by that snub, for it took him just five minutes to get on the scoresheet against Manchester United, and what a goal it was.
After a pass from Suso, Shelvey smashed home an absolute belter from 25 yards out, leaving United keeper Ben Amos absolutely no chance.
It will have satisfied Shelvey to get on the scoresheet at Old Trafford, after being sent off for Liverpool's first team against United at Anfield earlier this season.
The game ended 1-1 after Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan scored an 81st minute own goal after pressure from United's James Wilson.
