It has been a busy week for transfer news at Manchester United. Who has been linked incoming?
The quality of players linked with summer moves to Old Trafford ahead of the transfer window has been breathtaking, with a clutch of Europe's elite stars touted for moves to Old Trafford.
Here is our round-up of the top six linked with Old Trafford this week, in order of who would have the biggest effect on Sir Alex Ferguson's team...
None other than former icon Cristiano Ronaldo has once again been linked with a return to Old Trafford this week, with it claimed by The Sun that Unite have been in touch with his agent over their concern at PSG's attempts to sign him up. A transfer would be a record fee for United, while the player has refused to tie his future to Jose Mourinho's who is tipped to leave the club this summer. The paper later claimed Javier Hernandez would be demanded in exchange as part of any deal.
Colombian striker Falcao is seen as the 'second best' thing if United cannot re-attract Ronaldo to Old Trafford, with his national icon Faustino Asprilla admitted he has recommended to the player that the Red Devils are his best option. Rumours remain that the forward has a deal in place to sign for Chelsea, but Atletico Madrid are playing their cards close to their chest.
Man of the moment Robert Lewandowski's future is also up for debate, and this week once again the United links have taken many a twist. While Bayern Munich are heavy favourites to sign him from Dortmund where he has just one year left on his contract, Chelsea are also claimed to be in the mix. It was reported this week that United have slipped down the list of suitors for his signature, but remain in contention.
Angel di Maria
Ronaldo's teammate Angel di Maria has had an up and down season at Real Madrid, and it is claimed today that he has been offered to the club this summer. The Argentine was a target before he moved to Spain, and would offer fresh impetus if the Red Devils were able to offload Nani or Ashley Young.
Benfica's Nemanja Matic is now a Europa League finalist, where he will go head to head with former club Chelsea. The defensive midfielder dominates the pitch against opponents and would certainly bolster United's midfield just where they need it. Benfica are said to have set his price at 30 million Euros, confirming he is up for sale this summer.
Italian international Claudio Marchisio would do the same job as Matic for United's midfield, and was this week linked with a £20 million move to the club. Older at 27, he is at his peak rather than entering it, but today he shot down the rumours of a move, stating he wants to remain at Juventus and sign a new contract.
