Cristiano Ronaldo: Some common sense over his future

Cristiano Ronaldo United

There are different rumours appearing on a daily basis suggesting the former Manchester United man may or may not be returning to Old Trafford.

There has been plenty of speculation over the future of Cristiano Ronaldo since Jose Mourinho dropped a massive hint that he was going to leave Real Madrid in the summer.

The two main rumours are that he could leave the Spanish giants for Manchester United his old club, or he could end up at Paris Saint-Germain, possibly the only club that could afford him.

Manchester City is always a possibility but considering his United roots, it’s doubtful that would be a move that would ever get close to happening.

Ronaldo is staying very tight lipped over the speculation he could return to former club United. This isn’t because he wants to give nothing away, but more likely because he wants to see what happens with Mourinho.

Mourinho is one of the only managers in football who could cause several top players to leave a club, just through his own decision to walk away from a particular side and job.

What seems most likely is that Ronaldo will wait to see if Mourinho does actually leave and then make his decision from there.

If the Portuguese coach does move back to England, Ronaldo has two choices; stay at Real Madrid on a long deal or go back to Manchester United.

At the moment he has two years left on his current contract with the Spanish giants so he doesn’t have to rush if he’s thinking about leaving them.

It could well be the case that he would give United ample time to put together a deal to take him back to Old Trafford because it’s not going to be as simple as putting a huge wad of cash on the table.

Therefore, he could easily spend another season at Real Madrid either under Mourinho or under another manager.

If Mourinho does, for some strange reason, stay with Real Madrid for another year, then he will almost certainly leave next summer and Ronaldo will be in a position to give his former side the indication that he wants to follow Mourinho back to England.

The only reason Ronaldo would not re-join United if he left Real Madrid is because of the financial power that PSG currently possess.

They are in a position where they can pay whatever fee Real Madrid want and put him on any contract he desires.

It’s going to come down to just how much he wants to go back to Manchester and pull on that red shirt all over again.

The loss of Mourinho could well make his decision for him, but it may not happen straight away, which is why United fans have to stay realistic.

However, they are the only English club that he can end up at.

How do you see the whole situation?
