Claudio Marchisio speaks on Manchester United rumours

Italian international Claudio Marchisio has had his say on the recent links to Manchester United.

Claudio Marchisio is very much the unsung hero of Juventus' title winning midfield, often overshadowed by Arturo Vidal and Andrea Pirlo, and even former United man Paul Pogba.

What he does bring is an unerring consistency, as a former Juve player of the year, with 32 Italy international caps to his name.

Earlier this week it was claimed the 27-year-old was a £20 million summer transfer target for Premier League champions Manchester United, but those hopes have been dealt a blow.

Marchisio, speaking to Italian channel Sky Sport 24 said:

"I want to renew with Juventus, the market rumors do not interest me."

That seems to be that then, for Marchisio grew up a boyhood Juventus fan, he was even a ballboy at the Stadio delle Alpi as a youngster, and has no reason to leave a team which is enjoying a real winning patch.

Marchisio even went onto discuss rumours linking Zlatan Ibrahimovic with a move from PSG to Juventus, saying he would welcome the Swede with open arms.

It really does seem from his comments that his heart is in Turin, and a move to Manchester United and Old Trafford will not be on the cards.

For United, if they ever really were interested, it will be back to the drawing board.

Did you believe United were ever after Marchisio? Are you disappointed at his comments or should his loyalty be admired?
