Liverpool could miss out on the chance to re-sign former midfielder Xabi Alonso from Real Madrid. Several sources have suggested that the Spaniard could follow Jose Mourinho to Stamford Bridge if the Portuguese coach is confirmed as the club’s next boss.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has revealed that he wants to ruin Everton’s season. The clubs meet for the Merseyside derby this weekend and Gerrard has urged his teammates to join him in trying to prevent Everton from finishing the season with European football.

Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he will have the final say on any Liverpool signings this summer. Several players have been suggested as possible transfer targets for the club but the boss has insisted it will be his final decision as to who gets offered a contract.

Newcastle United could be about to snap up Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing. Spearing has been on loan with championship side Bolton Wanderers, putting in some superb performances which have led to reports that Newcastle could be about to make a move for him.

Sporting Lisbon seem to have reacted in relation to the future of defender Tiago Ilori. Several reports suggested Liverpool would try and sign him on a cheap deal at the end of the season, which seems to have prompted contract talks which will ultimately make him more expensive.

Steven Gerrard has become the latest high profile Liverpool star to suggest Luis Suarez will be at the club next season. Suarez has been tipped for a move away from English football following a ten match ban for biting an opponent and not being selected for the recent Player of the Year awards.

Rumours are still appearing about a fight between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur for QPR striker Loic Remy. Remy will leave the newly relegated side after being persuaded to snub a move to Newcastle United earlier on in the season, to use QPR as a stepping stone for a bigger move.

Former Liverpool player Mark Lawrenson has suggested Jordan Henderson has been the biggest beneficiary of Luis Suarez’s absence. The former player has suggested that Henderson has actively stepped up to try and fill the void create by Suarez’s massive suspension.

Luis Suarez has been told to get his act together by his wife, Sofia. Suarez has revealed that his other half has picked up on the negative elements of his game and his urged him to cut them out. She suggests he argues too much with officials and opposition and has told him to sort out his attitude.
