Meanwhile, youngster Phil Jones has revealed he is ‘satisfied’ despite a ‘frustrating’ season with United.
“It has been frustrating. Certainly at the start of the season,” said the Englishman.
“It was tough as I had a back injury and then, in the first or second training session back, I injured my knee again.”
“Thankfully, I got over that and played in quite a few games and cup games as well,” he added.
However his teammate Michael Carrick believes he is playing at his ‘peak’.
“As a player you’re always trying to improve and learn all the time. That’s what I’ve always tried to do and there comes a stage when, perhaps for a variety of reasons, you hit form and you feel comfortable with the way things are going. It’s probably an experience thing as well,” revealed the midfielder.
In transfer news, Colombian legend Faustino Asprilla has revealed he told Radamel Falcao to join United who are rumoured to be interested in signing the Athletico Madrid striker this summer.
“I told him he must choose Manchester United. Every season they are challenging - and if he wants success that is where I have told him to go,” revealed Asprilla.
Meanwhile, ESPN reports that Cristiano Ronaldo has ‘refused to be drawn’ on speculation he could return to United, insisting he was only focused on playing for Real Madrid at present.
"I have two more years on my contract, I am not concerned about that," Ronaldo said.
"I want to win wherever I am. That is what I want most, I am not concerned about renewing."
Elsewhere, The Express claims that United intend to ‘press ahead’ with plans to sign Claudio Marchisio of Juventus.
United are also heavily linked with interest in Brazilian ‘wonderkid’ Wellington Bueno.
Meanwhile, reports emerging in Germany yesterday claimed that Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho text Robert Lewandowski stating he wanted the United target to join him at Chelsea.
The Manchester Evening News, however, asserts that Ferguson won’t be outbid in his chase to sign Gareth Bale from Tottenham this summer.
In other news, United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed he intends to become a coach imminently.
“I’m going to start my coaching badges in September,” he stated.
“It’s going to be in Holland as I’ll start at PSV in September and get my coaching experience with them.”
United’s U21s beat West Brom 1-0 yesterday via a goal from Larnell Cole, which also saw Tom Cleverley play 90 minutes.
