A super-rich Russian club are to try and sign Dimitar Berbatov this summer, according to reports. The Fulham striker has been in excellent form for the west Londoners this season, after making a surprise £4 million deadline day switch from Manchester United.It is claimed that Zenit St Petersburg are keen to offer in the region of 7 million Euros for the 32-year-old, who features prominently on their list of potential summer buys. Zenit were linked with the Bulgarian last summer but did not move for the player despite him being available. It is not thought that Fulham want to sell.
Long-term Manchester United target Nicolas Gaitan is open to a move this summer, after reports at the weekend linked him to Barcelona. The Argentine is a diminutive playmaker likened to Manchester City's David Silva in style. He is valued at around £20 million and plays for Benfica, with his agent the infamous Jorge Mendes, who manages Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho. The 25-year-old's agent said that the prospect of a move to England attracts the player, but has been contacted by clubs in Italy and Spain.
Manchester City have had one bid reportedly rejected for Roma's Erik Lamela, but the Express claims the Blues are to go in with another offer. The Argentine winger has been one of Serie A's biggest stars this season and is currently in talks with Roma to extend his deal, but City want to snap him up before that happens. City's £18.5 million bid was rejected and Roma are said to want closer to 30 to even think about selling the 21-year-old.
