Tottenham Hotspur latest: Including Ben Arfa and Zidane

All the latest Tottenham Hotspur related news and gossip.

Zinedine Zidane says a £60 million price tag will not put Real Madrid off bidding for Tottenham's Gareth Bale in the summer. The French legend is director of football at Madrid, and believes the PFA Player of the Year Award double winner is of exceptional quality, describing Bale as the best player in Europe this season.

He said: "What I like about him is that he has this electric pace - but also a big footballing brain to go with it. That is very rare.

"A player like Bale can be the difference between a big club winning the league or Champions League.

"Tottenham could command £40million, £50m, maybe even £60m for him. It is a lot of money - but there are maybe three or four teams in the world that can pay that sort of transfer fee - and it wont put them off."

French website Footmercado is claiming Tottenham are in talks with the representatives of Hatem Ben Arfa of Newcastle over a potential summer move. The exciting winger is embroiled in a relegation battle, and it may suit Spurs chances of signing the player if the club are relegated. However Ben Arfa was recently quoted as saying he is keen to stay in the North-East. The website carrying the reports claims Ben Arfa is only being thought of as a Bale replacement, so take it with a pinch of salt if you consider the Welshman to be staying at Spurs.

Andre Villas-Boas is said to be very interested in bringing Danny Rose back to Tottenham, who enjoyed a mixed night for Sunderland against Aston Villa last night. He scored an excellent goal playing two one-twos from the back before firing home from inside the area, but was part of a Black Cats defence which shipped six in a terrible 6-1 defeat for Sunderland. It is claimed AVB wants him to snub a return to Wearside next season, although quotes attached to reports were not made this week.

The Express bizarrely suggest Tottenham as a potential destination for QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar, but with Hugo Lloris undisputed number one, it is a move we do not see happening.
