PICTURE: Phil Jones literally sweats blood

Manchester United star Phil Jones left the field after the 1-1 draw against Arsenal yesterday seemingly sweating blood from an armpit.

In the words of Sir Alex Ferguson, Phil Jones is a beast for football and the sort of player who can take to any position like a duck to water.

Days after he was pictured outside a nightclub in Manchester, after celebrating United’s title win with teammates, he played a key role in helping United secure a dramatic 1-1 draw away at Arsenal.

He played a midfield role for the majority of the game before he was later switched to a position in the back four, but he didn’t stop running at any point which is one of the things that makes him so popular at the club.

If he does literally sweat blood then that’s amazing and the doctors at United will presumably start doing tests on him as soon as possible. Only joking, I think.

Realistically, he probably took a knock during the game which caused a cut. That or he decides to shave his armpits before every game in some sort of weird pre-match superstition which laughs at putting a certain boot on before another.

Sooner or later he’s going to settle in a single position for United but the fans will be happy if the metaphor keeps repeating itself and becomes a common association with his performances for the club.
