All the news and transfer rumours from Old Trafford this weekend…
The newly-crowned Premier League champions can now only achieve a maximum of 94 points, one short of the 95 Chelsea won under Jose Mourinho.
However, they are still on course to set a new record for the most wins in a single Premier League season.
The match against Arsenal was only two minutes old when Theo Walcott put the Gunners ahead. But a penalty won and dispatched by Robin van Persie meant United shared the spoils and dented Arsenal’s chances of Champions League football next season.
Prior to the match, the guard of honour was greeted as you would expect by sections of the home crowd, with van Persie inevitably getting the most hostile reception.
However, the Dutch striker saw the funny side when he almost walked into the wrong dressing room upon his arrival at the ground.
In transfer news, United continue to be linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski.
The Polish striker was heavily tipped for a move to Bayern Munich. However, following the announcement that Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze will be making that switch in the summer, Sir Alex Ferguson doesn’t feel Lewandowski will follow his teammate to the Allianz Arena.
“Have I got room for him?” the United manager asked in relation to the striker.
“I can find room for anybody.”
Reported defensive target Marquinhos has ruled out any move away from current club Roma.
The 18-year-old Brazilian appears happy to honour a contract that still has four years to run.
One man who will definitely be joining United for pre-season is 17-year-old Brazilian midfielder Wellington Bueno.
The player who has been hailed by some as “the new Kaka” is currently at Desportivo Brasil, who in 2008 signed a partnership link with United.
The player who also goes by the name Juninho will hope to take full advantage of United's early pre-season campaign which starts in Thailand on July 13.
