Tottenham Hotspur latest: Including Lennon return and Salah

Aaron Lennon

News and gossip from the past 24 hours at White Hart Lane.

Team news first ahead of the clash with Wigan Athletic this weekend as Andre Villas Boas tries to prevent a league double for The Lactics. Gareth Bale and Jermain Defoe are fully fit for the game while Aaron Lennon is also expected to return from his knee injury. Sandro, Younes Kaboul and William Gallas are the only absentees.

Wigan are without Antolin Alcaraz but welcome back Jean Beausejour.

Tottenham reportedly sent scouts to run the rule once again on FC Basel winger Mohamed Salah as he faced off against Chelsea. The Egyptian impressed with his lightning pace in the Europa League tie between the two clubs and now AVB wants to continue taking a close look at the player ahead of a potential summer transfer.

Joao Moutinho will leave Porto and Portugal this summer according to reports coming from the country. He is believed to be seeking a more competitive league to continue his footballing career and Spurs are the clear favourites due to his previous working relationship with AVB and their interest in him last summer.

Another Tottenham transfer target seems set to be on his way elsewhere as Leandro Damiao edges closer to a move to Italian outfit Napoli. The Tuscan side see him as the perfect replacement for Edinson Cavani who is expected to make a move to PSG this summer.

Andros Townsend is back at Tottenham - receiving treatment for a hamstring problem. The QPR loanee is expected to miss the bottom of the table clash with Reading this weekend but it is hoped he will recover in time for the fixture with Arsenal next weekend; a game that prove very important for Spurs.

Tottenham youngster Nathan Byrne has agreed a free transfer to Swindon Town. The 20-year-old has been on loan at the League One outfit and never made a first-team appearance for Spurs but has taken in several loan spells with the likes of Crawley Town, Bournemouth and Brentford before his move to The Robins.

Any hope Spurs had of signing Inter Milan full-back Alvaro Pereira seems to be dead after the Uruguayan confirmed his intentions to stay with Inter Milan for the foreseeable future. It had been hoped AVB would have been able to convince him to come to London and take the place of the out-of-favour Benoit Assou-Ekotto.
