Arsenal latest: Including Barcelona and Atletico Madrid raids

Arsenal Emirates 3

All the latest Arsenal news and gossip.

Arsenal are again being linked with signing more of La Liga's brightest young talent. The first player on their radar is Barcelona's Julio Pleguezuelo Selva, who was first touted as a Gunners signing earlier this month. Selva is just 16-years-old, and the Mail has claimed this morning that the teenager is close to choosing Arsenal as the club he wants to sign his first professional contract with. It is claimed he has already turned down a three-year offer from Barcelona. His young teammate Josimar, is also set to snub Spurs and sign a deal with Chelsea.

The second teenager being linked with the Gunners is Atletico Madrid youngster Ivan Alejo. The 18-year-old has been described as the 'jewel' of Atletico's youth team and is a right-winger. Alejo already has a 'firm offer' from Tottenham but it is today being claimed in Spain that Arsenal have joined the hunt to sign him, with his current contract expiring in the summer.

Manchester United-bound Wilfried Zaha has given an interview today, discussing his move to Old Trafford where he once again has affirmed he grew up as an Arsenal fan, indicating he may have picked the Gunners over United had he received a firm offer. "It was always Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal in terms of where I could be going," he said.

The Express are pushing the Stefan Jovetic to Arsenal deal, reporting today that the £24 million rated striker is likely to be the Gunners first major signing of the summer.

In other transfer news, they report that suggested Arsenal target Federico Fazio of Sevilla is also wanted by Premier League rivals Liverpool to compete at centre-back.

Arsene Wenger has been speaking about the decision to send off and uphold the three-match ban for Olivier Giroud, commenting he is 'sad' at the harshness of the penalty. The Frenchman said he believes the side will cope without him given their different options up front.

With Arsenal linked yesterday with Juventus striker Alessandro Matri, we have taken a look at how his arrival may displease both Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott. Matri, like Giroud, is not so versatile, meaning Podolski and Walcott's aspirations of a central role would take a hit if he signed.

And finally, Ryo Miyaichi has been talking up the benefits of his loan at Wigan, despite it being ruined by injury. The Japanese starlet says he aims to be fit for Arsenal's pre-season and show what he is capable of.
