Transfer Talk: Featuring Gaitan, De Bruyne and Lewandowski

Benfica

Targets for Manchester United and Chelsea feature.

The big transfer news you need to know...

Nicolas Gaitan has long been rumoured to be a target for Manchester United, with the Argentine winger a consistent performer for Benfica. The 25-year-old has scored three times and provided 11 assists this season, and has now caught the eye of Barcelona. Spanish newspaper AS report that Gaitan is on the radar of the Catalan club, along with Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic. Expect numerous players to be linked with Barcelona over the coming months after their Champions League hammering at Bayern.

Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voeller has said the transfer of Andre Schurrle depends on Kevin De Bruyne coming the other way and signing on loan with the club. Chelsea are trying to sign Schurrle in a £20 million deal, but so far negotiations have stalled over De Bruyne. It is unknown whether it is Chelsea, the player, or the uncertainty over a new manager which is holding things up.

German newspaper Bild reports that Bayern Munich are still interested in Robert Lewandowski despite signing Mario Gotze from Borussia Dortmund. The Pole has one year left on his current contract; but his price tag will have shot up after his sensational four goals against Real Madrid tonight. The source for the report is Bayern manager Jupp Heynckes' agent, but it remains unverified and Manchester United are also claimed to be interested. He is suggested to be on the radar of Chelsea also if a deal for Falcao falls through.
