Deutsche Bank has announced that Don Birchenough will join as a Managing Director and Americas Head of Media and Telecom Mergers & Acquisitions.

The Wall Street Journal reports that he joins Deutsche Bank from Credit Suisse where he was most recently Co-Head of the Technology, Media and Telecom M&A group in the Americas. Birchenough was previously Americas Head of Telecom and Media M&A at Deutsche Bank.

He will be based in New York.

The newspaper also reports that Goldman Sachs Managing Director Curtis Smith has left the Wall Street bank after four years, two people familiar with the matter said Wednesday.

Sydney-based Smith was in charge of mergers and acquisitions involving listed Australian companies with a market value below US$2.1bn.

Finally, Bloomberg reports that Toronto-Dominion has hired Morgan Stanley’s Brian Perry as head of European currency trading for its securities unit.

He will report to Michael Gibbens, TD Securities’s global head of foreign exchange.
