Ravi Visvesvaraya Prasad would have got quite a shock when he checked his Twitter account after Manchester United secured the title.
The IT consultant gained over 10,000 Twitter mentions in the 24 hours following United’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Monday night, which was enough to help them secure a 20th league title.
Granted, there would have been several United fans going out and hitting the booze in celebration, mistaking Prasad for Van Persie because his Twitter username contains the initials RVP.
The Daily Express has rightly pointed out it was a very simple mistake to make considering Van Persie uses the word official on his account to identify to his fanes that it’s indeed him and not someone else.
Even when Prasad took to the social networking site to point out the error, he was still undated with messages of congratulations from United fans who seemed to think it was a very good joke on the part of the Dutch striker.
Fair play to Mr Prasad because very few people would have argued against him getting his account taken down, reacting angrily or with some form of hostility, when in actual fat he engaged in some light hearted banter with the fans.
Remember, if you want to follow Van Persie on Twitter, it’s @Persie_Official and NOT @rvp.
What do you make of the gaff?
