That claim made through his Twitter account is that Newcastle will one day in the near future be good enough to secure a league title of their own, which would be a remarkable achievement considering the current position of the side.
It should put a smile on the faces of plenty of Newcastle supporters this morning, as it clearly demonstrates the belief that Cisse, and likely other players, have in the methods and direction Alan Pardew is taking the club.
However, the current side has a monumental gap to bridge before they can even get close to the sort of title winning form which has been shown by the two Manchester clubs so far this season.
The immediate aim for the side is to get to the 40 point mark and ensure that they are a Premier League side next season, as another drop down to the Championship could prevent any sort of title challenge while Cisse is still playing.
The second step is to consolidate next season to ensure that the club don’t ever get drawn into another Premier League dogfight near the bottom of the table ever again.
That is certainly an achievable target for Newcastle because of their current infrastructure, the fact the manager is on a very long contract and the fact that the current squad is filled with high quality players.
The step after that is to make the sort of progression that Tottenham Hotspur have made in the last few seasons, in the respect that they need to be regularly challenging for at least the top six, then the top four and only then can they get anywhere near the title.
All of these steps are going to take time and they rely on a lot of luck going in Newcastle’s favour because Spurs are the perfect example of how hard a team has to work, just to break into that top four at the moment.
Cisse may have just been hypothetically thinking about the club’s chances of winning the league and playing on the law of averages.
That law suggests that at some point, Newcastle are going to win the league again, whether that’s in ten years or whether it’s in 100 years, sooner or later their numbers are going to come up and they will have a title victory.
There is plenty for the club to be ambitious and realistic about at the moment but Pardew needs to play a big role in instilling achievable targets within his squad and around the fans.
They have a very good system in the transfer market, good players and a fantastic set of supporters but thoughts of a Premier League title should be a million miles away at the moment.
