Arsenal’s appeal against the red-card shown to Olivier Giroud has failed. The Frenchman felt the red shown to him for the tackle on Stanislav Manolev by Andre Marriner was harsh considering he slipped before going into the challenge. However the FA have dismissed the appeal and the 17-goal striker’s three-game ban has been upheld by the regulatory commission. He will return for the final game of the season against Newcastle United at St James Park.
Arsenal have missed out in the pursuit of Mario Gotze after Bayern Munich completed a deal to make him the most expensive German footballer of all time. The Borussia Dortmund star has completed a £30 million move that will come in to effect this June leaving Arsenal stumped in their pursuit for the 20-year-old Bundesliga star.
Arsenal are expected to provide a guard of honour for Robin Van Persie and his Manchester United team-mates this weekend. United secured their 20th English league title on Monday night with The Gunners former captain bagging a hat-trick at Old Trafford. Now the Premier League reportedly expects the Gunners to oblige the champions with their rightful tribute.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain believes Arsenal will be in the title-hunt next season. Despite being well behind the leading pack this season after an intermittent season in terms of form he feels the clubs current end of season form shows that next season they will improve on this terms campaign.
According to The Express Arsenal have opened discussions with Barcelona about the availability of their goalkeeper Victor Valdes. Last week Barcelona officials asserted that despite his desire to leave the club he would not necessarily be leaving this summer; with his current contract running until 2014. However the reports in Spain suggest that Arsenal have already been in touch with his agent about a move.
Finally and Arsenal misfit Andrey Arshavin may have been given a route out of the club after reports in Spain suggested Sevilla could offer him a contract in the summer. Arsene Wenger confirmed last week that the Russian international could leave the club when his contract expires in the summer.
