All the news and gossip from The Emirates this weekend.
Arsenal won a scrappy affair with Fulham at Craven Cottage this weekend to move temporarily at least into third position. Per Mertesacker was the man who scored the goal that proved crucial in a 1-0 triumph. The game was also marred by two sending off offences. Steven Sidwell was first sent off within 15 minutes for an ugly challenge on Mikel Arteta before Olivier Giroud was given his marching orders late on after he slipped into a nasty looking challenge.
Club shareholder Alisher Usmanov has been named the richest man in the UK in the most recent release of the Sunday Times Rich List. The Uzbek born oligarch was second on the list last year but has now pushed the likes of Len Blavatnik and Lakshmi Mittal below him. However he does not have a big enough share in the club to have a significant effect on proceedings like owner Stan Kroenke.
Cardiff City are reportedly ready to make a shock bid for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey. The newly promoted Premier League side are looking to strengthen the squad ahead of a top-flight assault and owner Vincent Tan is ready to bankroll a deal for the 22-year-old; which would see him return to Wales after his switch to North London in 2008.
Arsenal assistant boss Steve Bould is being lined up as a shock replacement for Tony Pulis at Stoke City. The Potters manager has seen his side plummet into a relegation battle at the tail-end of the season after teams became accustomed to their heavy handed style. It has been suggested that Bould, along with Roberto Di Matteo and Gus Poyet, could be lined up to replace him by Peter Coates at the end of the season.
Jack Wilshere will reportedly have another operation on his dodgy ankle this summer in order to fully rehabilitate the chocolate joint. He is likely to have a pin replaced in his ankle which would rule him out for up to two months of pre-season including the England internationals against Republic of Ireland.
Arsenal have been linked with the signature of Matthew Lowton this weekend. The Aston Villa full-back has been in good form this term and with Bacary Sagna potentially leaving this summer The Gunners may be after another right-back this summer.
Finally and Swiss outfit FC Basel have confirmed that Arsenal are interested in centre back Aleksandar Dragovic. They will compete with Zenit St Petersburg and AC Milan for his signature.
