Falcao quizzed in Colombia about Manchester United and Chelsea rumours

Falcao, strongly linked with Manchester United and Chelsea, has broken his silence on the rumours, but has tried not to give anything away.

The future of Falcao has been almost soap-opera like over the past few weeks.

Secret meetings convened between Atletico's directors, dozens of targets lined up as replacements for him, and the shock reports claiming United have made a down-payment to secure his signature; these are just a handful of 'plot lines' in the saga surrounding his future.

The player himself has remained mysteriously quiet about the whole issue, probably wisely so, until now.

He has been talking to Colombian radio station, Radio RCN about the hype surrounding his future, and has tried his best to play it all down.

He said: "In recent weeks I have tried to isolate myself and not think about the rumors about my future.

"I'm focused only on Atletico Madrid. I do not let the market rumors affect my performance."

He certainly is not giving much away, determined to make his decision at the end of the current season. It will only strengthen the resolve of his suitors to sign him up.

In his comments, Falcao is showing himself to be the ultimate professional. He has a contract at Atletico Madrid, and is determined to give his best for them.

At the end of the season will be a more appropriate time to discuss the non-stop rumours properly, but right now Atletico have important business to attend to.

They are just three points behind rivals Real in the battle for second place, who have the Champions League as a distraction, and also have a Copa del Rey final to play.

If he can bring silverware to the club for the second season in a row after last year's Europa League, then he may just be forgiven for moving on by the club's fans.

Trying to isolate himself from all the talk can't be easy, but that is why he is one of the best in the business. Whoever is able to sign him up will be a lucky club.
