Deutsche Bank Appoints Chief Governance Officer and Deputy Global Head Compliance

Deutsche Bank has announced the appointment of Daniela Weber-Rey as Chief Governance Officer and Deputy Global Head Compliance.

She will join Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt on June 1 from the law firm Clifford Chance, where she has been a longstanding partner with significant focus on Financial Institutions, Corporate Governance and Compliance. Mrs Weber-Rey used to be a member of the EU Commission's Group of Corporate Governance Experts for the Financial Services Area and continues to be a member of the Commission of the German Corporate Governance Code.

As Chief Governance Officer, Mrs Weber-Rey will report to Stephan Leithner, Member of the Management Board and Group Executive Committee, and have responsibility for the oversight of corporate governance globally including acting as adviser to the Management Board on the governance structures and processes of the bank.

Staying at the forefront on governance structures and processes, an area where the Bank is traditionally strong, will be critical in the context of significant market and regulatory change', Leithner said. It will be an important component of the Bank’s cultural change initiative in ensuring good decision making and clear accountabilities across the Bank.

As Deputy Global Head Compliance, Mrs Weber-Rey will report to Andrew Procter.
