Club braced for €8 million offer for Manchester United flop

Manchester United's Zoran Tosic is wanted by German side Stuttgart.

Reports in Russia are linking former Manchester United winger Zoran Tosic with a switch to the Bundesliga.

Tosic spent a season and a half as a United player, but failed to convince Sir Alex Ferguson he was worth a spell of regular football.

Despite being sensational for the club's reserves, Tosic made just a handful of substitute appearances for the first team.

He went on loan to German side Cologne, which gave him a taste of first team football again after his switch from Partizan Belgrade, and the following summer after going to the World Cup with Serbia, he signed a deal with CSKA Moscow.

Over in Russia he has been a real success. He has been a consistently dangerous player for the club.

Last season he bagged 14 goals and made 12 assists, but this campaign he has just four goals and three assists to his name - having been hampered by niggling injuries.

However his largely consistent spell in Russia has caught the attention of Bundesliga side Stuttgart, where Federico Macheda is currently playing on loan.

Russian newspaper Izvestia claims that Tosic is being monitored by Stuttgart, who are 12th in the division - and are ready to pay eight million Euros to try to sign him.

Whether that will be enough to convince Russian league leaders CSKA to sell is another matter.

CSKA paid 8 million pounds for his signature back in 2010, and now he is 25-years-old, a better player about to enter his peak, it makes no financial sense for them to take a loss on him.

The paper report that CSKA are not intending on selling, and Tosic is perfectly happy at the club, but if an offer to play in a 'stronger league' comes along he would be open to considering it.

It was a shame Manchester United fans never really got to see his talent at the club, Sir Alex Ferguson spent £6 million to bring him to the club and barely gave him a chance, but at least sold him on for a profit.

It's good to see he has rebuilt his career, like the other player signed from Partizan, who never even made it to Old Trafford, Adem Ljajic - now at Fiorentina.

Tosic is another, like Mame Diouf and Pogba who is proving there very much is life after United.
