Five facts about Tottenham target Fede Fernandez

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with defender Fede Fernandez. Who is he?

At the bottom of a report about Fabio Coentrao on Saturday night, The Mirror added that Spurs are considering a swoop for another defender.

"Tottenham have asked Getafe and Napoli about central defender Fede Fernandez. The 24-year-old Argentinian is on loan at Getafe who have first option on him if Napoli decide to sell. The asking price is £4.5million."

So we decided to take a bit of a closer look at the centre-back, and see what more we can tell you about him.

Here are five facts...

1) Federico Fernandez is a full Argentine international, with 15 appearances and two goals under his belt for his country.

2) With an Italian passport, Fernandez would not require a work permit to play in the Premier League.

3) Fernandez began his career at Estudiantes, winning the 2009 Copa Libertadores title. His first ever professional goal was assisted by Argentine icon and former Manchester United and Chelsea star Juan Sebastien Veron.

4) Fernandez has netted goals against both Brazil and Bayern Munich, underlining his threat from the back.

5) He fell out of favour at Napoli this season, making just two Serie A appearances, signing on loan with Getafe in January where he has made nine La Liga starts scoring once.
