Arsenal latest: Rosicky and Szczesny to return?

Rosicky In Action

All the latest Arsenal news and gossip.

Arsenal face Everton in just under 24 hours time in a Premier League clash which could extend their advantage over a flagging Spurs side to four points, although their rivals do have two games in hand. As striker Olivier Giroud said today, it is essential the Gunners keep piling on the pressure.

They have been given mixed news ahead of their clash at the Emirates, starting with the goalkeeper situation. Lukasz Fabianski is a major doubt in the words of his manager, report Arsenal's official website, having sustained a kick in the ribs in the win over Norwich City at the weekend. This will open the door for fellow Pole, Wojciech Szczesny to return after being dropped last month. Arsene Wenger has said he will make a final decision tomorrow ahead of the match.

There is positive news that Tomas Rosicky is fit again after missing out at the weekend, along with Per Mertesacker who is available after a one-game suspension, meaning Wenger has a decision whether to bring him straight back in or stick with Thomas Vermaelen.

There could be action from the start for Lukas Podolski, after Arsene Wenger publicly went on record to state the German can spearhead their attack, despite being in and out of the side in recent weeks and playing out wide.

Arsenal have missed out on signing Fernando Amorebieta, report the Mail, with it claimed the Venezuelan has signed a pre-contract agreement with Fulham. The Athletic Bilbao defender's representatives had previously confirmed that talks had taken place with Arsenal.

The Express report that Arsenal are to renew their efforts to try and sign Etienne Capoue, despite having a bid rejected on deadline day for the defensive midfielder. Toulouse are said to want £10 million for the Frenchman. The paper also claim the Gunners could step up interest in AC Milan's El Shaarawy.

Martio Gotze has shot down the idea of joining Arsenal, report the Mail, with his agent claiming he has not even thought of leaving Dortmund in 2013, and when he does, he is more likely to look towards Barcelona.

Arsenal are also looking at Barcelona teenager Julio Selva, a 16-year-old who is impressing at the Barcelona academy. The Spaniard is a defender capable of playing at centre-back and right-back.

And finally, it has been an eventful weekend for three of Arsenal's former players. Julio Baptista, Mathieu Flamini and Havard Nordtveit. Between them they amassed two goals, one red card and one broken nose. You can read the full story here.
