Tottenham Hotspur weekend round-up: Including Real Madrid swoop and Sandro

News and gossip from White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur may not have played this weekend but there was still plenty going on at the club. Firstly Clint Dempsey feels that finishing fourth in the table would salvage the season for Spurs. The American is confident they can make up for their Europa League disappointment by beating Chelsea, Arsenal or Everton to the fourth placed finish.

Ledley King also believes that the club will not choke at the end of the season again. The club legend feels they will not suffer the same feeling as last season and end up losing out on Champions League football.

Real Madrid will go after two of Tottenham’s biggest names this summer. Gareth Bale and Andre Villas Boas are both being linked with a move to the Spanish capital. The interest in the Welsh international is well known but a replacement for Jose Mourinho is also necessary and along with Carlo Ancelotti AVB is top of their wish-list.

The Mirror report that Spurs will replace Benoit Assou-Ekotto with Fabio Coentrao this summer. The Cameroonian is expected to leave this summer with Monaco a likely destination and while Danny Rose is expected to come back and feature prominently next season AVB still craves a front-line full back and will move for his countryman this summer.

Meanwhile Sandro has confirmed he is set to be fit for the start of next season after stepping up his rehabilitation from a knee injury this week. He ruptured knee ligaments against QPR in January and has not featured since. However he has suffered no setbacks in his comeback and after a rehab period back in Porto Alegre he is ready to get back into action in around three months. Just in time.

What are your thoughts on everything Spurs on the 14th April 2013?
