The South Korean bagged a masterful double to help Hamburg in their pursuit of European football
This week saw former Tottenham Hotspur player Rafael Van Der Vaart call on his current team-mate Heung-Min Son to stay at Hamburg SV at the end of the season despite numerous clubs being linked with his signature over the past few weeks.
Recently it has been reported that Tottenham are the favourites to secure his signature with Arsenal ready to compete with their North London rivals. Meanwhile the likes of Inter Milan, Chelsea and Bayern Munich have also been tentatively linked.
With the club in financial trouble most fans understand the need for the club to cash in on players who are hot property in order to keep the club from financial turmoil.
The South Korean’s performance this weekend then would not have helped matters; not one bit. As if any of the suitors were watching they would have been treated to a match-winning performance from the player tipped to become the face of Asian football.
His brace against Mainz proved enough for the win as Hamburg moved closer toward a Europa League spot next season.
While the first goal was a pretty standard finish the second was a truly masterful moment from the youngster. Racing through on goal he coolly rounded the keeper before slotting the ball into an empty net with some style.
Here are both the goals...
Would you like your club to sign Son this summer?
