The Express have today linked Andre Ayew with Manchester United, after the winger said he was open to a move from Marseille (well who wouldn't want to get away from Joey Barton?!)
The player said: "I will go to a club that want to win trophies" - and there is no denying he would get a great chance of doing just that for United, with Robin van Persie close to realising the same ambition this season.
Ayew hails from Ghana, and was one of their most impressive performers at the 2010 World Cup. He was awarded the Man of the Match Award in their impressive win over the USA but missed the quarter-final defeat to Uruguay due to suspension.
He has been at Marseille since 2007, where it hasn't been all bad - he helped them win the Coupe de Ligue - the French Cup, in both 2011 and 2012, but in the league l'OM have fallen short in recent seasons.
He would likely cost in the region of £10-15 million, not a bad price for a talented 23-year-old who has played at the highest level.
Now United already have Wilfried Zaha on his way to Old Trafford, but such has been the poor standard of United's wing play this season there is every chance the club could undertake some major surgery in the position.
Antonio Valencia has been poor, and today made some comments which could irk Sir Alex Ferguson, while Nani's demise and expiring contract have been well documented.
But the man Ayew would replace is Ashley Young, on United's left-flank, who has been as poor as anybody this season, after an inconsistent first.
Young has not scored a single goal all season for Manchester United, and it would not be a surprise if the club move him on this summer; Andre Ayew would surely be an upgrade in the position.
Ayew has scored 10 goals for Marseille this season, and provided five assists - a good return - although he is currently without a goal in his last eight league matches.
Last season he scored 16 goals, so he may have his work cut out to better that total, but his goal threat from out wide is certainly an asset which would be useful to United.

United fans, would you like to see Ayew in and Young out?
