When West Ham agreed a deal to sign Wellington Paulista on loan in January, West Ham fans checking him out on YouTube were positively excited by seeing what the Brazilian striker was capable of doing.
The forward 28-year-old arrived on the back of a successful season in Brazil, with Cruzeiro aiming to loan him out, to see him become a success and then attract a big bid for his services in the summer.
That plan does not appear to be working so far, as Wellington has not so much as earned a place on West Ham's bench since arriving at Upton Park.
But enough is enough, it's time for Sam Allardyce to give him a chance and throw him into the first team mix.
This is not demanded blindly, Wellington scored his fifth goal in 10 appearances for West Ham's under-21 side on Monday night, in a 1-1 draw against Spurs.
Andy Carroll has been in good form for the Hammers of late, particularly impressive against West Brom in his last outing, but when he was unavailable for the clash against Liverpool at the weekend, it was exposed just how light the Hammers' options in attack were.
While negative for Wellington that with Carroll unavailable he still could not get a place on the bench, he must hope that his latest goal will force Allardyce to reconsider his options. Four of his five goals have been headers, a skill the manager is renowned for liking in his attackers.
West Ham have brought him all the way over from Brazil, and must surely at some stage give him an opportunity to play in the Premier League against a higher standard.
With the Hammers almost safe in 12th with 37 points, the club are almost at the stage of the season where they have nothing to play for, not quite, but almost.
There then is no excuse for Wellington to be given a chance to show what he can do, and try to convince the Hammers he is worth shelling out a small amount on to sign permanently in the summer, but if he does not cut it, then at least the club will be able to say they gave him a go.
West Ham fans, would you like to see Wellington given a chance?
