Everton failed to take advantage of an excellent opportunity at White Hart Lane this Sunday after conceding goals early and late in the game to Emmanuel Adebayor and Gylfi Sigurdsson that cancelled out the strikes of Phil Jagielka and Kevin Mirallas.
With many of Spurs’ big names out injured, including a certain Mr Gareth Bale, many predicted this as being a potential tide turning moment for Everton and for large periods of the game it looked as though that would come true; before the Iceman Sigurdsson fired home a deserved equaliser in an entertaining tie.
As ever certain players and moments caught the eye more than others; with Kevin Mirallas again impressing. But it was his Belgian counterpart that really caught the eye.
Moussa Dembele played very well as per usual in the heart of the Spurs midfield and when he was surprisingly substituted for Tom Huddlestone on 70 minutes the White Hart Lane faithful made their dissatisfaction well known.
One person who was certainly impressed with his performance was John Lundstram. Mean anything to you? No; then you are probably not an Everton or Doncaster Rovers fan.
The England youth international is highly rated at Goodison Park and currently playing a vital role in Donny’s promotion push from League One.
However he decided to look at the opposing team for inspiration by declaring his admiration for the talented former Fulham man; that is once he finally figured out where he could watch the game.
Any good sites I can watch the blues on people?— John Lundstram (@JohnLunny33) April 7, 2013
Didnt realise it was on ESPN haha buzzin la!— John Lundstram (@JohnLunny33) April 7, 2013
Dembele is a player la— John Lundstram (@JohnLunny33) April 7, 2013
While Everton fans would perhaps of liked him to be looking at his own seniors for inspiration they should certainly have no qualms with Lundstram wanting to be like Dembele.
