Despite some encouraging results over the past couple of months, Newcastle United still hover precariously close to the relegation zone, and Alan Pardew will know that some teams below them will likely hit form in the closing matches of the year. With that in mind, today is a must win for Newcastle in order for them to move away from the chasing pack ahead of a crunch Tyne-Wear derby next weekend.
At one stage Fulham also looked like they might drop into trouble, but back to back wins over Tottenham Hotspur and QPR has moved them to 39 points and more or less guaranteed a spot in the Premiership next season. Now sitting in tenth, Martin Jol will hope to keep their run of wins going to climb as high as they can over the last months of the season, but there’s also a chance the Cottagers might coast into the summer break.
Fulham won the return fixture 2-1, but what are your predictions for today’s match?
