Who said it? - Joey Barton needs 'help from his mother' for 'serious psychological problem'

PSG Players

It was the agent of Thiago Silva. The PSG defender and Marseille midfielder have been involved in a war of words in recent days and now the Brazilian's agent has waded in with a tongue lashing of his own.

Joey Barton is really not a fan of Brazilian football. After his recent (justified) criticism of the inflated price-tag and over-rated ballooning of the ability Neymar possesses he has now taken aim at Thiago Silva.

He even had to admit that his timing at calling the former AC Milan centre-back ‘over-rated' was ill informed; as the Brazilian went on to have a stunning performance against Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Here is a selection of some of the Tweets Barton shared with his followers this week:

These came after Thiago Silva criticised Barton for his denunciation of Neymar earlier in the season:

"There is even a Marseille player; I cannot remember his name, an Englishman, who has said bad things about Neymar, and Brazilian football, but also about Beckham and Ibra [Ibrahimovic]. It gives me much more desire to win to silence that Englishman. What does he know about Brazilian football? I don't remember having played against him in the national team.’’

Now the nature of Barton’s rebuttal has seen him threatened with legal action by Paris Saint-Germain and told by his Marseille bosses to reel it in slightly.

However Thiago Silva’s agent has now decided to get involved telling French radio station RMC of his true feelings about Barton. Among other things Paulo Fernando Tonietto said the following:

"Joey Barton has a serious psychological problem that requires urgent help from his mother, his father and the leaders of OM … Barton is a mediocre player in Brazil he would play even first or second division. Thiago does not argue with a player who does not deserve it. "

Don’t hold back now Paulo tell us how you really feel.

The more amazing thing is how many people have got bent out of shape by Barton’s more recent outbursts.

If people would simply take what he says with a pinch of salt they would simply see the humorous side of his exploits.

It seems not even crossing The Channel can keep Barton out of the headlines.
