Liverpool Latest: Including Daniel Sturridge and Andy Carroll

Andy Carroll Warms Up

All of the latest Liverpool news.

Striker Daniel Sturridge was reportedly threatened with outcast treatment had he stayed at Chelsea instead of joining Liverpool. Sturridge signed for the Anfield club in a £12 million deal last January and was apparently told he’d be left to rot on the bench had he stayed in West London.

Brendan Rodgers could provide Andy Carroll with a future at the club, if he accepts he’s not going to start every game for Liverpool. Carroll was sent out on loan to West Ham earlier in the season, after it emerged he would not become a regular player in Rodgers’ plans at the club.

The agent of Liverpool striker Fabio Borini has said the player is unlikely to move this summer. There have been rumours appearing that the Italian could return to Serie A following the signing of Daniel Sturridge and the imminent return of forward Andy Carroll.

Brendan Rodgers has reiterated his desire to strengthen the Liverpool squad this summer. Reports have suggested Rodgers may struggle to get the players he wants due to constricted funds at the club but he’s confirmed he’s looking to bring in a few players.

Liverpool have been touted as a possible destination for Marseille and Cameroon defender Nicolas N’Koulou. Liverpool will need to strengthen their defence in the summer due to not having Jamie Carragher available, as he’s retiring at the end of the season.

Brendan Rodgers has praised Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge for having an instant impact at the club. Rodgers has revealed that he couldn’t have asked for more from his new signings who joined the club during the last transfer window, as Liverpool were short in attack.

Midfielder Jordan Henderson has admitted that there are several areas of his game that he needs to work on. Henderson has made himself indispensible to Liverpool over recent weeks but has admitted he’s far from the finished article with plenty of ways he can improve.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for 23-year-old Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez. The forward has had a big impact for the Saints this season and could be a cheap way for Liverpool to bolster their attacking options during the summer transfer window.

Former Liverpool midfielder Craig Johnston says Brendan Rodgers deserves massive credit for helping key players turn their form around. Johnston says Rodgers has done well to keep the likes of Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing in and around the team, when many sides would have axed them without a second thought.
