Aston Villa Latest: Including Stoke Build Up and Benteke Future

All of the latest Aston Villa news.

Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar has revealed he has massive sympathy with the club’s fans. The skipper has spoken of how frustrating he has found it watching from the stands this season, as he’s nursed various injuries, which has given him a glimpse into what Villa fans have been going through.

Fresh reports are suggesting Tottenham Hotspur will make a £15 million bid to sign striker Christian Benteke this summer. Reports have suggested for a number of weeks that Spurs are interested in the club’s Belgian front man, despite Paul Lambert’s insistence that he’ll stay at the club.

Paul Lambert says he and his players are dealing with the pressure of relegation well. He has maintained his view that Aston Villa will be a Premier League club next season after a slight turnaround in form which has seen the team pick up some vital wins in recent weeks.

Paul Lambert says he has no concerns over the form or consistency of striker Gabriel Agbonlahor. Lambert says he expects the 26-year-old to continue to play a vital role in the club’s push for Premier League survival after criticisms of some of his displays in big matches.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan has said he’s ready for war when the club takes on Stoke City. The American shot stopper has said he’s ready for the physical tricks Stoke will try to deploy against him, to stop him from aiding the Aston Villa defence throughout the game.

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has suggested that every side in the bottom half of the table is in the relegation scrap. Villa have been down near the foot of the table for most of the season and Lambert has pointed out that a couple of wins could substantially improve his club’s league position.

Stoke City striker Cameron Jerome has piled the pressure onto Aston Villa ahead of the Premier League clash this weekend. Jerome has suggested that Stoke are under less pressure because of Aston Villa’s fight against relegation which he suggests makes them vulnerable.

Darren Bent’s Aston Villa future has been thrown into further doubt after he was left out of the match day squad against Liverpool last weekend. Paul Lambert has made it clear that Bent doesn’t feature in his plans for the club, which makes an exit this summer more than likely.

Samir Carruthers has suggested that Aston Villa need to build on their win in the NextGen competition. Carruthers was captain of the side which defeated Chelsea in the final of the tournament earlier this week, which suggests Aston Villa have one of the best youth setups going at the moment.
