Liverpool Latest: Including Andreas Weimann and Jeremy Menez

All of the latest Liverpool news.

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher says the club’s European qualification for next season relies on luck. Liverpool need the teams above them to slip up if they are to make it into the Champions League, which is the main objective for the club over the rest of the season.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has spoken openly about his admiration for Aston Villa midfielder Andreas Weimann. The Austrian has been one of the stand out performers for the club this season, as they continue their battle to avoid relegation to the Championship.

Paris Saint-Germain striker Jeremy Menez continues to be linked with a big money move to Liverpool. The PSG forward has fallen out of favour with Carlo Ancelotti at the French club although his reputation as a reckless player could put Liverpool off of making an approach this summer.

Liverpool could put in a bid of around £15 million for Jackson Martinez, the player who broke Falcao’s goalscoring record at the club. Liverpool have been tipped to add to their attacking power this summer to guard against a repeat of earlier in the season when Luis Suarez was the only fit forward.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has reiterated his belief that goalkeeper Pepe Reina is not unsettled at Anfield. Reina and Liverpool have both declared their commitment to each other despite the heavy number of links suggesting the Spaniard will leave this summer.

Liverpool could be in a straight up fight with Manchester United to sign Thiago from Barcelona this summer. The Barca star is thought to be open to a move away from the Nou Camp to find regular first team football with Liverpool and United thought to be the Premier League sides interested in the £15 million rated player.

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent could be available in a cut price deal this summer. Liverpool had been linked with the England forward earlier in the season and those links have started to reappear as Bent has failed to be included for any of Villa’s recent matches against relegation rivals.

Dr Steven Peters, the psychiatrist behind Great Britain’s Olympic cycling success, has suggested Liverpool are putting too much pressure on younger players at the club. He has suggested that the constant demand to finish in the top four could affect self confidence and determination of younger stars.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper David James has moved to Iceland to play football for IBV. The 42-year-old shot stopper is free to join the side after he left Bournemouth after having his contract terminated by mutual consent last month. He is one of the oldest serving players in top flight football.
