CEO Chris Taylor unveils plans to put the studio back on track following failed Kickstarter.
Following the company's failed Kickstarter and subsequent mass layoffs, studio boss Chris Taylor has revealed plans to re-brand the company.
Saved from its financial troubles by being purchased by Wargaming.net last month, Gas Powered Games could be re-branded as part of a series of changes that Taylor labelled “magic”.
"It's not a publisher acquiring a developer. It's a developer acquiring a developer [...] There was a 99 percent overlap in terms of company culture, genre choices, and leadership,” Taylor told Polygon.
As part of the process, the studio is trialling the name Wargaming Seattle and is workingon a free-to-play MMO that will seek to ape the success of Wargaming title World of Tanks.
Either way, Taylor was emphatic that the developer's fortunes had changed and that its future looked bright.
"We went down to less than ten people, but we're back up to 30 now, and that number continues to grow," he concluded.
