Or did he .... we bring you a tale from the enigmatic SkySports videprinter.
You have to love Gillette Soccer Saturday; watching Jeff Stelling and his motley crew of former professionals bleating and hollering like a group of mad men always gets me tickled pink on a Saturday afternoon.
Football is a mad game however and so there hyperactive attitude in the Sky centre is rather apt.
As it proved today in relation to the Conference game between Macclesfield and Stockport County. Stockport have struggled in recent years and despite being in the same division as Premier League champions Manchester City just 11 years ago they now face the very real prospect of dropping into the sixth tier of the football pyramid.
The club have certainly had their fair share of top talent in recent years. The likes of Rickie Lambert, Ashley Williams and Adam Le Fondre are more used to making Premier League headlines these days but they once plied their trade at Edgeley Park.
They certainly need players of that quality now and when they secured a dramatic draw against Macclesfield at Moss Rose; with the goal coming courtesy of no less than the Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
Now I was sure the 41-year-old had retired after his season at Cardiff City but not according to the mercurial Soccer Saturday Videprinter.
The thought of Hasselbaink scoring certainly caused ructions of humour in the studio and certainly Stockport fans were probably thinking … if only.
In fact it was Jon Macken, himself a former Manchester City player and Republic of Ireland international who grabbed the goal; his first since arriving at the club in January.
We wish it was Jimmy … just to see the Dutchman burst the seams off a football one more time.
