Marc Overmars has reported that Christian Eriksen has been watched intently by Liverpool scouts recently. Considering the Ajax technical directory also recently admitted Eriksen was likely to leave it seems the coast is clear for a move to Anfield.
A report from Holland has emerged today stating Liverpool’s interest in young Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen. The talented Dane has long been earmarked as a potential Premier League transfer target with Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal also reportedly keeping tabs on the player; and it is in fact an Arsenal legend who has released the news to the dutch press.
In an interview with Dutch publication De Telegraaf the former Arsenal and Barcelona winger admitted that there had been several foreign visitors scouting the 21-year-old in recent weeks; with Liverpool in particular keen.
"We have the list of the scouts of foreign clubs who have been here recently and Liverpool has been a regular visitor."
While Overmars would not be drawn on the matter any further this is not the first time the Ajax technical director has been drawn into discussion on the future of the clubs most prized asset. Recently he had this to say on the matter of a new contract offer:
"Christian has informed us that he doesn’t want to sign a new contract right now. I think he and his agent want to see what opportunities present themselves this summer."
So with Eriksen wanting to leave and Overmars seemingly remiss to letting him go he may just be a Liverpool player for the start of next season.
Do you want Liverpool to sign Eriksen?
