Andreas Weimann is a player who along with Christian Benteke has been regularly linked with a Villa Park exit over the past couple of months.
This time last year the Austrian was only just breaking into the first team, and this season the young striker has gone onto score 11 goals for the club in all competitions.
He featured internationally for for Austria against Ireland in midweek, coming off the bench in a 2-2 draw.
The striker has one year remaining on his contract at Villa Park, and it's fair to say there is ample uncertainty over his future due to the fact he has not yet signed a new one.
Clubs from Norwich, to Tottenham, to even Borussia Dortmund have been linked with the forward, and the latest name to be put forward is Liverpool.
A move would have some logic. With Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge the two clear top strikers, the Reds require a third reliable goalscorer to share the load, without bringing in somebody who is too big a name to upset the apple cart.
21-year-old Weimann fits the bill, and falls into the young and talented category of player that Brendan Rodgers is trying to recruit. Villa will likely try to charge as much as they can for him, but the Austrian would still come cheaper than a big name from abroad, and leave Liverpool with plenty of their transfer budget left.
If he did sign however it would likely signal the end of Fabio Borini, who has endured a season to forget at Liverpool due to injury and poor form, but he is said to have been approached by Fiorentina over a return to Italy, so Weimann could be a potential replacement.
Liverpool fans what do you think, is Weimann an upgrade on Borini? How much is he worth?
