The biggest giveaway that Bale is staying at Spurs

Gareth Bale’s decision to sign a promotional contract with BT is the biggest giveaway that he’s looking to stay in England.

If Spurs fans were looking for anything, the remotest sign that Gareth Bale was going to stay at the club beyond this current season then it has arrived and they have BT to thank for it.

Bale has signed a deal with BT to promote their sports channels for the next three years from next season and he will also help the company market their live Premier League games.

The deal would not make any sense at all if he was thinking of upping sticks, leaving Tottenham and jetting over to Madrid to sign a massive contract with the current La Liga champions.

If that was going to be the case then it would mean an awful lot of upheaval for a young man in terms of travelling back and forth due to commitments not related to football.

That is something that his potential Spanish owners would be very wary about considering his age and the fatigue which can be generated because of excessive amounts of travelling on a regular basis.

There have been some crazy transfer stories which have been generated due to Bale’s immense form at White Hart Lane this season. Figures have been mentioned in the bracket of the deal which originally took Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid from Manchester United.

In short, the realism of these links and rumours seem to have been blown out of proportion a little bit because of Bale’s form in a Tottenham shirt.

That’s not to say he couldn’t attract or wouldn’t warrant a move to one of Spain’s top clubs because he very much could, he’s one of the most lethal players in the Premier League at the moment.

The motives of a move right now would also be questionable because of the fact Spurs are likely to secure Champions League football for next season, providing they get through the play-off stage.

That is something Bale has previously said he wants to be a part of and it’s something which he seems to be gearing up for.

Praise be to BT for this news because it’s an example of another concrete commitment which will keep him in the UK.

Spurs fans, happy with this news? Or are we reading too much into it?
