Everton latest: Including Hitzlsperger and Negredo

Hitzlsperger

News and gossip from Goodison Park this week.

David Moyes is considering sending Thomas Hitzlsperger out on-loan so the German midfielder can get first team football ahead of a potential move in the summer. The former Aston Villa and West Ham player was only brought in to the club back in October as midfield cover due to injury concerns with Phil Neville and Darron Gibson.

It is believed Watford are the favourites to snap up the 30-year-old and adding him to their current litany of loan-stars.

He would be charged with helping the Glory Hornet Boys with a promotion push in the Championship.

Another Everton player who could be on the move is Irish defender Shane Duffy. The under-21 captain has recently been spoken of in glowing terms by his manager Alan Stubbs and it was even hinted that he may be used to replace the out-of-nick Dutchman Johnny Heitinga.

However he has admitted he needs game time and will evaluate his future in the summer.

Phil Jagielka has warned Stoke City that Everton will be going on the attack in their fixture at Goodison Park this weekend. The final nine games of the season have been described as ‘cup finals’ and Jags admits the players can now lose their shackles and go for a more attacking approach in their remaining ties in pursuit of European football.

Everton will be without Steven Pienaar and Maraoune Fellaini for the game as they are suspended.

Phil Neville has admitted he would contemplate a move down the divisions in order to continue his playing career. The 36-year-old is in the final few months of his contract at Goodison Park and has admitted the idea of potentially being a player-coach at the lower level would appeal to him; citing Edgar Davids at Barnet as an example.

Everton are reportedly ready to rival Merseyside adversaries Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Valencia full-back Aly Cissokho.

The reports come from Portugal which suggest all three teams may be looking at the player who has become frustrated with his role at the club this season.

Finally and it has emerged this week that a potential deal for Alvaro Negredo may very well be in the sights of Everton after the Sevilla striker announced his dream to play in the Premier League. They are expected to receive competition from other top-flight outfits but it is still a glimmer of hope in the pursuit of this player.
