The news Arsenal fans had expected but been dreading has come true; Abou Diaby has suffered a long-term injury.
Regular readers of our website may wish to cast their minds back to February 1, when we ran an article entitled 'Play Abou Diaby Injury Bingo'.
The message was that with Arsene Wenger electing not to sign a new midfielder in January, the Frenchman's injury record made it inevitable he would suffer misfortune between now and the end of the season.
But surely nobody could have predicted a blow as cruel as this; it was announced today that the 26-year-old has suffered a cruciate ligament knee injury - which will keep him out for a minimum of nine months.
It caps another frustrating season for the central midfielder, who started the season in superb form, starring in a 2-0 win at Anfield and scoring a winner for France in a World Cup qualifier against Finland.
He later suffered a groin injury which would keep him out until mid-January, but he was clearly not at the peak fitness he was in at the start of the campaign, and his form showed.
The injury is a potentially significant blow to Arsenal's season, but quite how bad will depend on how quickly Jack Wilshere recovers from his own ankle injury - with it today announced by Arsene Wenger the Englishman could take another fortnight to recover.
So is it all doom and gloom in light of Diaby's injury, or was it simply something half-expected, and fans are remaining positive - or simply fed up?
We took to Twitter to find out...
Diaby out for the rest of the season. Should be sold, instead buy a player who's a regular starter and free of injuries. #AFC— Ankil (@That_Boy_Gujju) March 28, 2013
Abou Diaby is a talent though just way too injury prone though it's a joke #AFC— SHAQ SMALL (@ShaqSmall) March 28, 2013
A lot of people saying sell Diaby. To be honest who would buy him and pay his wages. #afc— CarlJenko (@Jamie_Robocoop) March 28, 2013
A chewing-stickis by far stronger than Diaby's bones...we need to sell him this summer #AFC— AÜGÍÌÊË (@AleeyuAFC) March 28, 2013
Sad to admit, but Diaby surely no longer has a future at Arsenal. Great talent but forever injured #AFC— Chigs (@SaysChigs) March 28, 2013

Diaby out for 8-9 months. I'm devastated for him. #AFC— Real Arsenal Fan (@Mr_Arsenal2013) March 28, 2013
Can't believe Diaby has another injury. Genuinely feel sorry for the guy, lovely person, gifted player but #afc need to move on— Paul Curtis (@Blk125Paulo) March 28, 2013
Gutted for Diaby, his Arsenal career all but ended. World-class when fit and playing regularly, and he's exactly what the team needs #AFC— jordan hughes (@jordy1393) March 28, 2013
I love #AFC for persisting with Diaby but the time for sentiment is nigh. To win we need to be more ruthless... club success comes first.— Steve Knows Best (@NI_Gunner) March 28, 2013
What do you think of the news? Does he have a future at Arsenal?
