Manchester United have a secret weapon that might lure the 'Dutch Xavi' to Old Trafford

That secret weapon is Robin Van Persie. As the picture in the text highlights it appears Jordy Clasie, wanted by Tottenham and Arsenal, was something of a RVP admirer in Rotterdam.

Much has been made in the press recently over the talents of Feyenoord midfield maestro Jordy Clasie and with good reason. The 21-year-old has caught the eye with his composed style and excellent passing ability from the heart of the midfield; even earning the mantle ‘the Dutch Xavi’.

Such exceptional form has seen him make it into the Dutch national side and, what’s more, see his name linked with a number of big clubs; in particular Tottenham and Arsenal.

As it is many do not expect Clasie to move on from Dutch football anytime soon as the lifelong Feyenoord fan looks ready to continue his development in the Eredivisie for the time being.

But while the North London rivals may well want to start a bidding war between themselves for his talents they may have serious competition from a big rival; Manchester United.

He certainly is a player who would catch Sir Alex Ferguson’s eye; similar in fact to Tom Cleverley although you would have to say perhaps a marginally more complete talent. Hell the two even look pretty similar.

However Old Trafford may already possess a secret weapon; one Arsenal fans will be getting sick of the sound of.

Robin Van Persie.

RVP is a Rotterdam native and played at Feyenoord up until his North London switch in 2004. Now the 29-year-old is at United and even admitted this week that The Red Devils were likely to be his last club as he contemplates an early retirement compared to his current contemporaries Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs.

So surely not just a mutual affinity for Feyenoord will see Clasie want United to make an approach.

Well no but it seems RVP may have had a little admirer while he was at the Dutch club; as this picture below proves…

Yes that is a young RVP with an even younger Jordy Clasie during the formers Rotterdam tenure.

Looking at the smile on that little boy’s face having the opportunity to play with his one-time idol on a regular basis may very well be the deciding factor in his decision.

Would you like United to go after Jordy Clasie?
