News, views and rumours relating to Manchester United in the past 24 hours.

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has stated that he will likely stay at Old Trafford for the rest of his career.

"For the next few years I will be at Man United - maybe longer," Van Persie said.

"United could be my last club,” revealed the Dutchman.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson described United veteran Ryan Giggs as ‘an exceptional human being’.

"Ryan is an exceptional human being," Ferguson told Sirius XM.

"He just has this insatiable appetite to continue playing.”

Ferguson also described former United star Cristiano Ronaldo as comparable to a fine wine, according to The Daily Mail.

Meanwhile goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard has asserted his belief that United’s senior players will lead their title charge.

“From Rio, Giggsy, Scholes and Vida, you can really feel it with the players who have done it before and see how determined they are and how important it is to them,” explained the Danish stopper.

Both Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney scored for their national teams last night.

The Dutch ace netted a brace for Holland who beat Romania 4-0 and Rooney scored England’s only goal in their 1-1 draw with Montenegro.

Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley, Chris Smalling, Danny Welbeck and Ashley Young were all involved for England.

Shinji Kagawa scored for Japan in their 2-1 defeat to Jordan.

Patrice Evra and David De Gea lined up on opposite teams in France 1-0 defeat to Spain.

Jonny Evans featured in Northern Ireland’s 2-0 defeat to Israel.

Antonio Valencia helped Ecuador beat Paraguay 4-1.

Angelo Henriquez’ Chile beat Uruguay 2-0 and Javier Hernandez featured in Mexico’s 0-0 draw with the USA.

Currently there are no injury concerns over United players involved in this week’s international fixtures. Sir Alex Ferguson says he will assess the players when they return ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Sunderland.

“They played last Friday and last night. Once I know how many minutes each player has played, I’ll start to think about my team for Saturday,” explained the Scot.

In transfer news, United ‘target’ Mario Gotze revealed he is open to a possible move.

The Borussia Dortmund winger stated:

“Clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United are attractive, and playing in another top league would shape me and help me develop as a player.”

Meanwhile The Daily Express reports that United are ‘locked in battle’ with Arsenal in the fight to sign ‘the next Michael Ballack’.

German midfielder Leon Goretzka is the subject of the speculation as the same report also asserts that Ferguson is planning a ‘£60 million clear out’ of players this summer.

The same source also claims that United are ‘prepared to listen to offers’ for captain Nemanja Vidic who has been linked with interest from AC Milan this week.

United are also linked with a summer move for Claudio Marchisio currently at Juventus.

In other news, former United youngster Paul Pogba ‘impressed’ for France against Spain last night, despite getting himself sent off.
