Antonio Valencia produced a superb volley during Ecuador’s 4-1 win against Paraguay in the latest round of World Cup qualifiers.
A goal for Antonio Valencia for Ecuador would have done his confidence and belief the world of good, as he headed back to Manchester United where his form this season has been poor.
He doesn’t often use his left foot during matches but he produced a cracking volley in the match against Paraguay, which was ruled out because the linesman’s flag went up for offside.
The encouraging thing as far as he and United will be concerned, is that he’s proven he’s still capable of that sort of skill, which will encourage Sir Alex Ferguson to carry on using him as he seeks out the record points total for a Premier League title win.
The international break would have done him some good because it’s allowed him to get away from England, where he’s been the subject of plenty of criticism in recent times.
Take a look at the volley from about 1:20 into the video;
Is that the best goal you’ve ever seen ruled out?
