Few United fans out there may remember Kenji Gorre but he was apparently so good at 15-years-old that Chelsea tried to muscle him away from United, but he chose to stay and fight for his place and chances of getting into the youth team.
For whatever reason it didn’t quite work out for him during his time at the club, which led to him being released during the last transfer window meaning the 18-year-old Dutch born winger became a free agent.
Swansea seem to have spotted his potential and talent very quickly and invited him for a trial with the club, where he’s already played a starring role in the team’s Under-21 side.
Gorre is likely to stay in and around Swansea for the rest of the season with several sources suggesting he’ll sign a permanent deal at the end of the campaign, when things are more settled and Michael Laudrup knows the areas he needs to improve.
Gorre will add many things to Swansea including pace and skill on the ball but there is plenty to work on such as his ball retention. He’s always had a good eye for goal and it’ll be interesting to see how he does if he ever makes it into the Swansea first team.
The benefit of the side keeping him on for the rest of the current season is that he gets to learn and experience everything about the club, he’ll get to watch the team and he can start identifying how he can fit into the side.
Not at all bad for a freebie.
Swansea fans, what do you know about him?
