Everton's Darron Gibson has revealed the reasons behind leaving Twitter just two hours after originally signing up.
Darron Gibson joined Twitter way back in 2011 and then did a swift U-turn after only a couple of hours with rumours spreading suggesting he was being cyber bullied and taking abuse from all angles.
However, the reason behind that decision has only just been revealed by the Everton midfielder and it’s not got anything to do with any massive level of abuse he received - So he says at least.
Gibson has revealed that he joined Twitter and had to turn his phone off before making a trip, when he turned said phone back on he was bombarded with over 30,000 notifications about new followers.
He admits he didn’t know how to change the settings to stop his phone telling him each time he received a new follower or tweet aimed in his direction.
Needless to say that could be a right pain in the backside for any of us, especially if you were getting tens of thousands of e-mails coming through to you, all at the same time.
Gibson has since re-signed up to Twitter where he tweets about life in Merseyside on a regular basis. Unfortunately, there are always going to be those who send abuse for the sake of doing so but it doesn’t seem to be enough to drive Gibson away from the social network for a second time.
Some gaffers don’t like it, some have even banned it but if you’re a follower of Gibson, rest easy because he’s supported Twitter and described it as a great platform for fans to get an insight into their favourite stars.
