Manchester City to welcome back key trio for Newcastle match?

Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure could all be in Roberto Mancini's starting eleven this Saturday as Manchester City aim to finish strongly to guarantee second place in the Premier League and claim the FA Cup.

The Premier League title race might now be a case of when rather than if Manchester United seal their 20th trophy, but Manchester City still have plenty to play for, and this extends beyond just ensuring they are not pipped to second place by Chelsea.

This season has undoubtedly been a disappointing one, and there are real questions over what changes might be made at the Etihad this summer. Roberto Mancini's position looks incredibly tenuous already, and there will likely be a significant squad reshuffle at the end of the season.

However Manchester City and Mancini himself still have time to answer some of the questions that have been posed by their critics, with important league games and an FA Cup semi-final against either Chelsea or Manchester City coming up.

With that in mind, they will be delighted to have all three of Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany available to them for the first time since the 3-0 win over Stoke on New Year's Day. Kompany has been out for a couple of months, whilst Aguero has been side-lined since the 24th February. Toure missed several games whilst on international duty with the Ivory Coast, and a migraine kept him out of the loss at Everton in City’s last league match.

As perhaps the three most important players in City's title win last season, it has perhaps been overlooked that they have been without them for much of this season. With all three fit, City will be looking to go on a fine run in the closing months of the season, and if they can finish strongly in the league and win the FA Cup, it will put a substantially different complexion on the changes needed in the summer

Newcastle United are the team that City face at the Etrihad this weekend, a side who have enjoyed an excellent recent run after reinforcing wisely in January. If City have their key men firing again, they can send a message by beating the Magpies. Their next league game is at Old Trafford, and whatever the situation in the league, a win there will be a huge boost to the team and Mancini.
