A Banker Attends A Group Therapy Session

Empty Chairs

So, a drug addict, a drunk, a sex addict, a gambler and a banker are all at a group therapy session.

'My name's Earl, and I'm a drug addict', said the substance abuser. 'I lie and I cheat and I steal to get money for my habit'.

'Welcome, Earl', said the group leader, 'You are among friends now'.

'My name's Charlie, and I'm a drunk', said the alcoholic. 'I beat up my wife, neglect my children and can't hold down a job'.

'Welcome, Charlie', said the group leader, 'You are among friends now'.

'My name is Donald and I'm a sex addict. I can't think of anything apart from sex and I spend all of my money going to adult clubs and visiting escorts'.

'Welcome, Donald', said the group leader, 'You are among friends now'.

'My name is Wayne and I am a compulsive gambler. I have lost all my money, my wife has left me, and the bank has foreclosed on my house'.

'Welcome, Wayne', said the group leader, 'You are among friends now'.

'My name is James', the last member of the group nervously began. 'I don't drink, I don't take drugs, I've never gambled and I wouldn't know how to contact an escort even if I wanted to. I have a great marriage, and wonderful children. I give generously to our church, and work hard supporting worthy causes'.

'Please continue', said the group leader softly.

'But I'm a banker - I work in a bank'.

The silence was deafening, as all eyes fell upon the banker.

'Oh', the team leader finally said, 'I'm sorry. We can't help you. You'll have to leave. We don't want your sort here'.
