Strootman drops a come and get me plea to Manchester United

Kevin Strootman has dropped a massive hint to Manchester United, that he would be ready for a transfer this summer.

Manchester United and Kevin Strootman is a story which dates back to last summer and possible the months building up to the last summer transfer window.

The PSV Eindhoven captain is one of the most highly rated midfield players in Europe at the moment and someone who has been tipped to improve the United midfield drastically as Paul Scholes makes way and Ryan Giggs continues to play a reduced role.

Strootman has revealed that he is open to offers from various clubs, which means if United want to make a move this summer and get a deal sorted out, then they could well get their man before anyone else can shift into position.

He’s the ideal player for United at the moment. He’s big, aggressive, strong, likes to get forward and is more creative than many will give him credit for looking at him for the first time.

The biggest stat about his game this season, which will attract a lot of interest, is his combination of goals and bookings. He has six goals in 12 games but has been booked seven times during the same period.

Recklessness? Maybe, but it shows he could be well suited to the English game because he seems to love to get stuck in inside the opponent’s final third and he doesn’t seem to be afraid to take one for the team, which will slow down counter attacks.

United should be very confident of getting him if he’s a player they are seriously interested in signing.

There will be plenty of other clubs that look at these comments and get drawn into making a few enquiries and some big bids, because he’s said he’s looking to move on and will listen to any side that comes in for him.

Even if this creates a bidding war for him, United will still be in the mix to sign him because they have the resources to compete alongside any team other than maybe one or two of the big spenders.

Any fee will be on the high side because his current deal doesn’t expire until the summer of 2016 and he’s the captain of PSV. However, there is a way in for United and it’s something they should look at unless all of the rumours over the past year have been nothing more than fabrication.

United fans, what do you think?
